Sowing New Ideas

Me, Myself and Mind® – March 2013 Emotional Intelligence Newsletter, By Roberta Swartz

March fools me every year. Despite plenty of experience that shows me otherwise, when March rolls around I always feel the urge to dig in the earth and to begin planting. The reality is that the ground is still frozen and in Western Montana we must wait until late May for the weather to settle enough for outdoor gardening. Patience is definitely a virtue! It can be humbling when we must follow mother nature’s lead even when we want to do otherwise.

In the natural flow of life, there is a time to rest and a time to take action. We must sleep at night in order to function well during the day. We must both inhale and exhale. Our inhalation is more active, our exhalation more passive, yet it takes both to support life. The month of March can be like an exhalation, a time that is more passive. Yet, we can still be passively active by sowing new ideas. We can prepare and get ready so that when the time is right we can take action with purpose and direction.

Prior to every action there is a thought. The thought is passive, the action, well, is active! It takes both the thought and the action to create our goal. Whether planting a garden or starting a new career, our goals begin in the more passive state of our thoughts, our ideas and our imagination.

The conscious mind thinks in words but the subconscious mind thinks in images, feelings and sensory awareness. In other words, it is our imagination. Even if you have “a knowing” you are using your creative mind or your emotional intelligence. When we combine both thought and imagination, we connect on a universal level that can be powerful in helping us to reach our goals.

What if you could create what you really want with greater ease and with better results?
What if you could relax, let go and let things happen while you still do your part?

I’ll be posting a monthly challenge for you to participate in each month to help strengthen your emotional intelligence. Do your best, have fun and please feel free to post your experiences. We are all in this together.

Monthly challenge: Plant a seed about pursuing a new goal. Speak this out loud. For example: I’m thinking about moving to Europe for a business opportunity. Should I do this?

During this more passive time of sowing new ideas and new possibilities, pay attention to what happens in response to your thought. How does it make you feel? What takes place around you as time passes? Without being attached to outcome and without pushing too hard, do certain doors close and other doors open? Do some pieces seems to magically fall into place while others seem to create discord? Pay attention. Yes, we must still do our part but when things are meant to be, the pieces flow smoothly together in our favor. This may or may not match what we think we want. Be sure to check your sense of self and know that you deserve to be successful!

After decades of using mostly IQ, left brain intelligence to rule our choices in life, it is time to bring emotional intelligence on board. When we do, we create a stronger working balance between the hemispheres of our brain and this supports a happier, healthier life.

Love,
Roberta

What if You Could Heal Yourself?

If you are a part of the baby boomer generation, there’s a good chance you were raised with the vision that doctors are the next closest thing to God. While I agree that doctors of Western medicine can accomplish incredible things, it seems to me that we are going further down the rabbit hole of ill health, pharmaceuticals and surgery. The number of adverse drug reactions that lead to death in our country are staggering. According to a publication by The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4, July 26th 2000, authored by Dr Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH, of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, “Every day 290 people are killed by FDA-approved prescription drugs, and that’s the conservative number. This study, which is twelve years old, and drug deaths have risen considerably since then, documents 106,000 deaths per year from the “adverse effects” of FDA-approved prescription medications.” (http://www.naturalnews.com/036599_gun_control_prescription_drugs_deaths.html#ixzz26qr7u8To)

I believe that a part of our evolution as people is for us to discover that nature has instilled within our physical form everything that we need in order to be healthy. Our body is highly intelligent and when given the proper environment, it knows how to heal itself. The proper environment that I am referring to goes well beyond external influences such as eating well and exercising. I am speaking about an internal environment that is affected by the bio-chemical responses which automatically occur with each and every thought that we have. One thought triggers about 7-10 million reactions, creating an internal soup of chemical responses that affect our entire body all of the time. Given enough repetition, these chemical responses can set a precedence, an environment that leads to ill health. This can occur independent of any external influences we may choose to create.

“The idea that the mind and body interact is not new. It can be traced to the Wisdom literature in the Old Testament and to Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine. The ancient Hebrews attributed some physical illnesses to grief or anger. Hippocrates believed that health depends upon a balance of the body, mind and environment, and that disease is caused by imbalances in these areas. As modern science progressed, the mind and emotions became neglected, since researchers found it difficult to measure and quantify mental states with the scientific methods and equipment that were so highly valued.” (Healthline.com)

Over the past thirty years I have helped and witnessed thousands of people with real health problems create physiological changes that may seem miraculous. Many people have experienced incredible transformations that often defy what we are taught is even possible. I have seen people change blood cells counts, eliminate asthma and allergies, create freedom from chronic depression or insomnia and eliminate pain. I have witnessed many people who are able to get off of their anti-depressants, pain medications or sleep aids. The list goes on and on.

What if you could learn how to heal yourself?
What if I could show you how?

Love Always Wins

I recently returned from an incredible experience at the Conscious Life Expo. This huge 10th annual event was held at the LAX Hilton in Los Angeles, California and it attracted between 10-12,000 attendees for the three day event. The Expo was well organized independent of it’s grand size and things ran very smoothly. There were plenty of options for learning with many interesting key note speakers, lots of workshops and an impressive variety of free lectures to choose from. There were also about 200 vendors who filled two large rooms and various hallways covering two floors, happily sharing their products and knowledge amidst the crowds, the hustle and the noise.

I began preparing for this event well in advance. I mailed 10 boxes of books through the USPS to my parents home just before Thanksgiving. This was a time when I would be there to receive the heavy packages. The universe decided otherwise. One box was lost and 6 boxes were destroyed along with the majority of the contents. Why did this have to happen?

Over the next three months I spent hours on the phone, battling for my insurance claim. I knew there had to be a reason beyond the obvious neglect of the post office so I did my best to keep the faith, holding on to the belief that somehow things would turn out well. I began to mentally prepare my mind and heart for the event as time got closer. “If I could just cover the expenses of my trip, I’ll be happy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to reach more people with my message.” I sent this idea out to the universe with trust in my heart.

The expo was amazing for many different reasons. The best part for me was the wonderful attendance I had for my 45 minute lecture on “Self-Hypnosis for Creating Health.” There were about 125 people with standing room only and I received rave reviews! I truly enjoyed meeting so many people of like mind. I met a lot of hypnotherapists as well which was refreshing for me since meeting colleagues in my field is rare in my home town.

The weekend manifested some unusual occurrences that were noticeable and confusing at the time. Even though the aisles were packed with people, it felt like we were invisible within my booth. Patty and I laughed about it every once in a a while. I decided it was due to being the “new kid on the block.” We were surrounded by seasoned vendors who obviously had a following. I checked within myself and I felt as though I was radiating joy along with a strong, welcoming presence so my reasoning seemed to make sense. Saturday’s activity was a little bit better than on Friday, but we continued to witness people “missing” our booth and being very drawn to the one across the way, time and time again, even when the vendors were gone. I was also quiet impressed with how well the two elderly women were holding up.

Then, all of a sudden it hit me. We had been given a “gift” from them when we were first setting up the booth. It was a paper rose which was displayed at MY booth. Could they have infused an intention that bounced others away from me and over to them? It sounded ridiculous to both myself and to Patty, but somehow I knew I was on to something. Doe the first time in three days, everything that had been in congruent now made sense.

I took down the paper rose and threw it in the trash can right behind where Patty sat. She immediately told me that she got a headache and a backache. She took the flower out of the room and threw it away elsewhere. I know this may sound crazy but right away, it felt like the air lifted. Patty’s aches went away. Many more people started coming to my booth and I remained quiet busy for the rest of the expo. So did the vendor on my left. Her booth had also be touched by the paper rose. About an hour later when I asked her if she noticed a difference in how busy she was, there was no hesitation! Yes! I also noticed that one of the old women across the way began having trouble keeping her eyes open and they were working harder to draw people in. The energy loop had been broken.

Although I sold far too few of my products in order to “break even,” I now know that everything turned out just fine. Upon returning to Montana, I found that my insurance claim with the USPS had come to closure. I also received two separate checks from book sales that I didn’t know I had made. The amount of these covered the losses from my trip and I ended up covering my expenses completely!

There seems to be a ricochet effect taking place from the “blocked energy flow.” My on line book sales have increased greatly, as have my web site stats, my on line sessions and my clientele. I also made some incredible contacts and met a few new friends. I believe this story serves to show that good intentions, faith and kindness are far greater than any fear based behaviors can ever be.

To the red rose and the owl.
I know who you are. I remember you.
Thanks for the lessons.
And keep in mind that love always wins!

Keep the Faith

Faith is a powerful tool. Powerful enough to cure the inflicted, powerful enough to manifest something new and wonderful. Yet, many people are finding it difficult to “keep the faith” due to the current economic challenges that are very real and often serious. How do we keep believing that there can be some thing better when things seem to be so bad?

My husbands timber frame business was thriving prior to the economic crash but for the past two years it has barely stayed afloat. Over twenty employees got laid off, doors closed, and unemployment was our only resolution. And for two years, my husband went to work faithfully every day with trust in his heart that something good would happen. Imagine going to work for two years, feeling like you are in a ghost town, not getting paid and continuing to believe in something better!

Many times we used visualization to “call in money” and the universe always seemed to listen. Day by day we squeaked by, but we continued to find the diamonds among the coals. “Eat ground meat instead of steak. Drink water instead of juice.”

I began to find pennies resting on the ground and every time I picked them up I thanked the universe for listening and for answering my prayers. Pennies soon turned into dimes. I began finding dollar bills that had been tucked away in pockets. Sometimes there was a stack of bills with fives and tens. Special offers, refunds and a then lower mortgage payment all kept us floating along. We continued to be grateful for the support we received even though our credit card debts were escalating. We continued to keep the faith and focused on coming through the other side, productive and thriving. Life went on, I published my first book and I too continued to work, often without pay.

“Focus on the outcome, see what you want to have happen, trust that it is already yours, trust in good intention and kindness, feel it in your heart and set it free.” Remember to breathe. Remember to be humble. Remember that one thing always leads to another. Remember to accept the gifts. Keep the faith.”

The jobs are starting to come in and my books sales are increasing. Although we are not yet swimming along, we both trust that we are moving in the right direction. Success is the only option and we continue to believe with all of our heart that things are fine and the universe will continue to provide us with what we need. We know it is just a matter of time before our finances return to a healthy state of being. We trust that things continue to get better and we remain focused on success and financial freedom once again.

There are many fringe benefits to living in this way such as having a healthy immune system, getting a good nights sleep and feeling happy. These are always better than their alternative.

We each have this choice. Thoughts are very powerful. Thoughts do create things. All of the money in the universe is out there and it wants to be given a good purpose for being. Remain focused on the benefits that you are proving for the world and trust that the money wants to support your good cause! When we live with gratitude in our heart with good intentions, the universe does listen!

HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!

At last Me, Myself and Mind has been sent in to the printer! This past week felt like one of those dreams where you can’t seem to move. The printing company was having fax and phone problems so everything was slow and arduous but we now have final liftoff!

Once I approve the proof, I’ll place my first order of books. For those of you who are local, I’ll have the first book singing this summer. I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

I can’t believe how much time I now have after two years of non-stop writing. There are still plenty of projects to do – a workbook, new CD’s, seminar circuits, but for now….the garden is calling!

You can open the following link for an inside look at the book. Thanks to everyone for your support and for your enthusiasm!

The Subconscious Mind is the Final Frontier for Creating Health

Do you or a loved one struggle with physical illness or emotional difficulties?

Are unhealthy behaviors or addiction causing you problems?

Do you want to reclaim your self, your health and your life?

Learning to work with the natural healing power of your subconscious mind is the final frontier for creating health and wellness.

The subconscious mind takes care of our memories, our beliefs, our perceptions and our feelings. It also controls our entire body through the Autonomic Nervous System. Just a single thought sends millions of neural-chemical responses that affect how we feel. These chemicals directly influence what happens with our physical and emotional health and they also impact how we choose to behave.

When a neural-pathway is traveled repetitively, a subconscious association or connection is established. This is how we learn new things. Most of these core connections are set by about ten years of age. They determine how we feel about our self, how we feel about the world, and how we choose to interact with other people for the rest of our life. Unfortunately, these associations are often based on false information or “mis-perceptions” bestowed upon a young mind.

Over time, these automatic responses usually lead to physical health problems, emotional imbalances, addictive behaviors and relationship problems. Independent of age, intelligence or time, problems occur and re-occur because the subconscious associations still exist. The same neural-chemical responses continue to be re-triggered independent of what is actually occurring in the persons environmental surroundings. In other words, the messages received by the brain are independent of what is really happening. The mind and body respond to what is most influential, the automatic chemical responses based on the pre-established connections and associations.

These patterns can however be disrupted and changed. When the subconscious associations are reviewed and changed, the problem is often eliminated completely. This can be accomplished through evidence-based skills of self-hypnosis and self-hypnotherapy. Hypnosis opens direct communication with the subconscious mind while the conscious mind remains fully aware and discerning. It provides an opportunity to explore, understand and transform old associations and patterns that are causing the problem to occur in the first place.

Thousands of people have experienced real physical, emotional and behavioral improvements, often defying what followers of traditional medicine believe to be possible and you can too!
