I recently returned from an incredible experience at the Conscious Life Expo. This huge 10th annual event was held at the LAX Hilton in Los Angeles, California and it attracted between 10-12,000 attendees for the three day event. The Expo was well organized independent of it’s grand size and things ran very smoothly. There were plenty of options for learning with many interesting key note speakers, lots of workshops and an impressive variety of free lectures to choose from. There were also about 200 vendors who filled two large rooms and various hallways covering two floors, happily sharing their products and knowledge amidst the crowds, the hustle and the noise.
I began preparing for this event well in advance. I mailed 10 boxes of books through the USPS to my parents home just before Thanksgiving. This was a time when I would be there to receive the heavy packages. The universe decided otherwise. One box was lost and 6 boxes were destroyed along with the majority of the contents. Why did this have to happen?
Over the next three months I spent hours on the phone, battling for my insurance claim. I knew there had to be a reason beyond the obvious neglect of the post office so I did my best to keep the faith, holding on to the belief that somehow things would turn out well. I began to mentally prepare my mind and heart for the event as time got closer. “If I could just cover the expenses of my trip, I’ll be happy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to reach more people with my message.” I sent this idea out to the universe with trust in my heart.
The expo was amazing for many different reasons. The best part for me was the wonderful attendance I had for my 45 minute lecture on “Self-Hypnosis for Creating Health.” There were about 125 people with standing room only and I received rave reviews! I truly enjoyed meeting so many people of like mind. I met a lot of hypnotherapists as well which was refreshing for me since meeting colleagues in my field is rare in my home town.
The weekend manifested some unusual occurrences that were noticeable and confusing at the time. Even though the aisles were packed with people, it felt like we were invisible within my booth. Patty and I laughed about it every once in a a while. I decided it was due to being the “new kid on the block.” We were surrounded by seasoned vendors who obviously had a following. I checked within myself and I felt as though I was radiating joy along with a strong, welcoming presence so my reasoning seemed to make sense. Saturday’s activity was a little bit better than on Friday, but we continued to witness people “missing” our booth and being very drawn to the one across the way, time and time again, even when the vendors were gone. I was also quiet impressed with how well the two elderly women were holding up.
Then, all of a sudden it hit me. We had been given a “gift” from them when we were first setting up the booth. It was a paper rose which was displayed at MY booth. Could they have infused an intention that bounced others away from me and over to them? It sounded ridiculous to both myself and to Patty, but somehow I knew I was on to something. Doe the first time in three days, everything that had been in congruent now made sense.
I took down the paper rose and threw it in the trash can right behind where Patty sat. She immediately told me that she got a headache and a backache. She took the flower out of the room and threw it away elsewhere. I know this may sound crazy but right away, it felt like the air lifted. Patty’s aches went away. Many more people started coming to my booth and I remained quiet busy for the rest of the expo. So did the vendor on my left. Her booth had also be touched by the paper rose. About an hour later when I asked her if she noticed a difference in how busy she was, there was no hesitation! Yes! I also noticed that one of the old women across the way began having trouble keeping her eyes open and they were working harder to draw people in. The energy loop had been broken.
Although I sold far too few of my products in order to “break even,” I now know that everything turned out just fine. Upon returning to Montana, I found that my insurance claim with the USPS had come to closure. I also received two separate checks from book sales that I didn’t know I had made. The amount of these covered the losses from my trip and I ended up covering my expenses completely!
There seems to be a ricochet effect taking place from the “blocked energy flow.” My on line book sales have increased greatly, as have my web site stats, my on line sessions and my clientele. I also made some incredible contacts and met a few new friends. I believe this story serves to show that good intentions, faith and kindness are far greater than any fear based behaviors can ever be.
To the red rose and the owl.
I know who you are. I remember you.
Thanks for the lessons.
And keep in mind that love always wins!
